Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
